HTTP status 504

No reply from the on-premise service inside the window. 504, retryable.

On a write the outcome is unknown. This is the case Idempotency-Key exists for: retry with the same key, and never retry without one.

The API answers with a problem document (RFC 9457) whose type is https://twinn.engineering/errors/upstream-timeout, and with X-Error-Code: UPSTREAM_TIMEOUT. Branch on the code, never on the detail text.
