Ask Twinn, the assistant inside Twinn, runs this same report to answer questions in plain English. It tells you which report it ran, with which criteria, as of when, so the answer always matches the report.

How Ask Twinn works

What’s in the report

Every column, and what it means.

Account
GL account number (blank on headers, computed lines and totals).
Description
Account name, or the section / total name.
Balance
Balance at the end of the selected period. Assets debit-positive; liabilities and equity credit-positive.

Criteria you can set

Pick these before you run it. Twinn remembers your last run.

  • Posting year
  • As of period
  • Compare to
  • Skip $0 accounts

How it’s calculated

The same notes Twinn shows beside the report, so anyone reading it knows what the numbers include.

  • Rebuilt from Sage's posted ledger (starting balances plus every posted line), with sections by standard account type (1-10). Tie it out against Sage's printed Balance Sheet before relying on it.
  • Equity includes the current year's net income and all earlier years' net income, because Sage never posts a closing entry to Retained Earnings. Sage may print both inside one Retained Earnings figure; total equity is the same.
  • Assets are shown as debits, liabilities and equity as credits, so Accumulated Depreciation and Owner's Drawing show as negatives.
  • Voided transactions are excluded.
