How Ask Twinn works

What’s in the report

Every column, and what it means.

Account
GL account number (blank on headers and totals).
Description
Account name, or the section / total name.

Criteria you can set

Pick these before you run it. Twinn remembers your last run.

  • From year
  • From period
  • To year
  • To period
  • Department (blank = compare all)
  • Skip $0 accounts

How it’s calculated

The same notes Twinn shows beside the report, so anyone reading it knows what the numbers include.

  • Consolidated comes from every posted line on the income and expense accounts. Department columns come from the posted lines' departments, for accounts set up with departments.
  • No Department = Consolidated minus the department columns, i.e. accounts not set up for departments. It's only shown when non-zero.
  • Pick a department to get the 'Department Specific' view: that department only, with each line as a % of the department's operating income.
  • Department numbers used in the ledger but missing from the department list are still shown, labelled '(not in department list)'.
  • Sections follow Sage's standard account types. Tie out Consolidated to Sage's Income Statement.
